Advanced Care Planning & Palliative Care

Presenter: Ms. Mollie Cole, RN, Gerontological Nurse Specialist
Most people hope for a peaceful death. But, without planning and preparation, that is unlikely to happen. Heather will discuss Advance Care Planning and Goals of Care, as well as palliative and end of life care in Calgary. Reference will be made to the changing context as the practice of Medical Assistance in Dying has been legalized.

 

Aging & Dementia

Presenter: Ms. Heather Shantz, RN, Clinical Nurse Specialist
As we age, we experience many changes in our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. This session will delve into some of the common changes associated with the normal aging process and dementia. There will also be time to reflect on ways individuals and communities can accommodate the needs of older adults, especially within an intergenerational context.
