National Day of Observance for COVID-19

The Government of Canada has designated Thursday, March 11, 2021, as a National Day of Observance to commemorate the people who have lost their lives and the significant impacts we have all experienced through COVID-19.  The National Day of Observance is an opportunity to honour the memory of those we have lost, recognize everyone who has been impacted by COVID-19, and pay tribute to all those who continue to work hard and make incredible sacrifices in the pandemic.

St. Stephen’s has prepared and will enable parishioners to participate in the commemoration in a manner that reflects the values and style of our faith community.

The bell at St. Stephen’s will be tolled at 12 pm on March 11, 2021 to honour the memory of those we have lost to COVID-19.

At set of remembrance and commemorative devotions that parishioners may read and recite at home are included here

Gracious God,
As we remember before you the thousands who have died,
Surround us and all who mourn with your strong compassion,
Be gentle with us in your grief,
Protect us from despair.
And give us the grace to persevere
And face the future with hope
In Jesus Christ our risen Lord.

Yours in faith, your Corporation at St. Stephen’s Anglican, Calgary:
